The Nexus of Technological Change and Work and Safety Outcomes – A survey Study
University of Southern California is conducting a survey study to examine how construction technologies change work outcomes (e.g., efficiency, quality, site safety) and worker health and well-being (e.g., physical/mental workload, physical injuries, fatigue).
University of Southern California is recruiting individuals who meet these criteria:
- At least 18 years of age
- Currently employed in the construction industry in the United States
- Have experience with state-of-the-art construction technologies (e.g., remote-controlled machineries, drones, electric/battery-based equipment, BIM, VR/XR/AR, AI, exoskeleton, etc.)
If you decide to participate in this study, you will be asked to do the following activities:
Complete an online survey for 10 to 20 minutes
During these activities, you will be asked questions about:
- Demographics, including education, gender, race/ethnicity, age and union worker status
- Type(s) of construction technologies directly/indirectly used
- Work outcome changes due to technology adoption
- Work evaluation and experiences such as training, work culture and supervisor support
- Health and well-being at work, including general physical and mental health, pain and fatigue
