Nevada Senator’s Bill Would Boost Protections for Road Workers, First Responders

U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nevada, has introduced legislation aimed at strengthening protections for roadside workers and first responders on the nation’s highways and roads. The Safer Roads for Those Who Serve Act would require states to improve how they collect and analyze data on highway worker injuries and fatalities. If those numbers rise over a two-year period, states would be required to incorporate targeted protection strategies into their next state strategic highway safety plan.
