NDA Mourns the Passing Jerry Myrick: Safety Advocate, Professional and 2019 Hall of Fame Inductee

Jerry E. Myrick of Woodridge, Illinois, 2019 National Demolition Association Hall of Fame inductee, former Safety Committee chair and industry icon passed away with family at his side on June 19, 2022, at the age of 73.
Inducted into the NDA Hall of Fame at the 2019 Convention & Expo, Jerry was a leader in the demolition industry for over 45 years. His experience included NDA Safety Committee chair, general manager and corporate director of safety at Robinette Demolition and consultant at ERM.
Under his guidance, NDA safety programs flourished. As chair of the NDA Safety Committee, Jerry tirelessly gave of his time and energy during the development National Demolition Association’s Safety Manual, the NDA Starting Out Right video and was major contributor to the OSHA Alliance for Disaster Site Workers as well as the book “Demolition: Practices, Technology, and Management.” Jerry was always willing to share his knowledge and assist anyone. He was as an active member on numerous NDA committees and was the primary sponsors of the industry’s efforts to respond to the need for a unified response to large-scale disasters. He was instrumental in developing and refining a number of industrywide efforts and programs including the training of OSHA Compliance Assistance Safety Officers. He was a member of the National Demolition Association, American Society of Safety Engineers: the Association of Subcontractors, NFPA International and the American Society of Healthcare Engineering.
Jerry is survived by devoted wife Alice F. Myrick, whom he worried about and cared for up until his final days; daughters Sandra Stocchero, Jennifer Epert and significant other Mike Barnes; Bonnie and spouse Boris Stipetic; and son Scott Adams; nine adoring grandchildren: Scott Alexander, Samantha Anne, Tiffany Lynn, Sarah Elizabeth, Luke Thomas, Alex Gregory, Eric Thomas, Cassandra Mae and Emily Katarina.
