Louisiana Starts Sprint To Fix or Replace 62 Bridges in a Year Under New Process

The new Office of Louisiana Highway Construction on Wednesday broke ground on its inaugural project as it aims to repair or replace 62 minor bridges throughout the state by Dec. 31 — a goal officials say they are on track to achieve. Gov. Jeff Landry and Archie Chaisson III, executive director of the highway construction office, celebrated the launch of the $2.1 million project — replacing a small bridge with one about 40 feet long and 25 feet wide over Morgan Branch on La. 424 in Washington Parish.
