Recommitting to Pay Equity on Equal Pay Day

Today, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) observes Equal Pay Day, which raises awareness of the gender wage gap between men and women. Equal Pay Day marks how far into the year women must typically work to earn what men were paid the previous year. Nearly 60 years after the enactment of the Equal Pay Act of 1963, women working full-time year-round still typically earn nearly $10,000 less per year than men, with even larger pay gaps for many women of color.
