Reciprocal Tariffs Go Into Effect
August 12, 2025
The adjusted reciprocal tariffs announced by President Trump last month officially went into effect on Aug.7. The tariffs range from 10% to 41% on imported goods from 69 countries.
The tariff rate on Canadian imports has increased from 25% to 35% on all products that are not compliant with the US-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement. Tariffs on Mexican imports will remain at 25% for the next 90 days.
In addition, the following tariffs remain in effect:
- 10% baseline global tariff on U.S. imports
- 30% tariff rate on most products imported from China
- 50% tariff rate on steel and aluminum imports
- 50% tariff rate on copper products
NDA is closely monitoring trade actions out of the White House and is engaged with members and policymakers on the impact of the proposed tariffs.
